COVID-19 – The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme

Business
A lot has changed since we were advised to stay home in mid-March.
The introduction of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme encouraged businesses who were not able to operate (or operate with minimal staff) to furlough staff and claim assistance from the government.
From 1 July, there has been a big push for getting Britain back to work. The Government are committed to continue to support businesses who are able to get their employees back to work on a reduced capacity basis by introducing flexible furlough.
However, Government guidance released to calculate the employees working pay and flexible furlough pay is quite convoluted requiring a mixture of calculations based on pay for hours worked and flexible furlough pay. If we can be of assistance, please get in touch with our payroll specialists on 01223 810100.
The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) ends on 31 October 2020. However, there will be an additional incentive for employers whose furloughed employees are continuously employed earning over £520 per month as at 31 January 2021, to receive a furlough grant of £1,000, per employee next February.
The timeline below should help you navigate your way through the next few months as we emerge from Lockdown.
