Xero Accounting User Guide: Setting up a payment service
Are your customers not paying on time? Taking longer to pay that usual and affecting your business’ cashflow?
Setting up a payment service, which adds a ‘Pay Now’ button to the online invoice, can encourage customers to pay quicker as it’s more convenient. When an invoice is emailed to your customer they can use this button to pay you via the payment service.
There are various different payment services such as stripe, paypal and GoCardless – each of which allows customers to pay using a credit or debit card and integrate with Xero providing a more streamlined approach.
Step 1: Add a Payment Service
This can be done either within Xero or directly with the payment provider
- Navigate within Xero to Organisation Name – Settings – Payment Services
Step 2: Apply to payment service to an invoice template
- Navigate within Xero to Organisation Name – Settings – Payment Services
- Underactive payment services click manage themes and for the invoice template select the payment service provider
Step 3: Add a payment service account to your invoice
When you have completed step 2, the payment service will automatically be applied to invoices that use this template.
Now that the payment service account has been added to your invoices, a pay now button will now automatically appear on your online invoice, which you can easily email to customers straight from Xero. When a customer pays you online, Xero marks the invoice as paid. Resulting in quicker payments and easier reconciliation.
Automation is the way forward, and with CKLG and Xero we can provide the necessary advice and tools to help!
